The stock Rumble Fuzz suffered from not being loud enough. Dead End Fx decided to take care of that and added a J FET booster after the Volume control (it is labelled “Fuzz”, not sure why….).
The layout below is verified and this is now a loud, hairy, air moving fuzz indeed. I used a BC109C (hfe 650) for Q1 and a metal can 2N2222A (hfe 200) for Q2.
