The Top Gear Fuzz is a rare English Fuzz Face variant from the late sixties / early seventies. It’s a fairly awkward build as it’s on a tiny piece of vero, floating between the two pots.
There seems to be a couple of versions floating around (like all a lot of vintage circuits). I have seen a few minor variations on resistor values, some also appear to have the 68k feedback resistor hiding under the board somewhere – I’m assuming this as I can’t see it anywhere.
TOP GEAR FUZZ – 0.15″ VERO LAYOUT
I “borrowed” a photo from https://www.tonehome.de/top-gear/fuzz/ to provide some context to the layout, as otherwise it might be a bit confusing.
Note the 270ohm and 10k resistor are joined at the top, with the output cap soldered on here.
