RVIII Distortion
Request. Not heard of this before but it’s apparently a fuzz pedal made by Claudio Dias for his brother Sérgio Dias from Brazilian rock band Os Mutantes. Anyway here’s a vid of one and it sounds pretty good to me:

Request. Not heard of this before but it’s apparently a fuzz pedal made by Claudio Dias for his brother Sérgio Dias from Brazilian rock band Os Mutantes. Anyway here’s a vid of one and it sounds pretty good to me:
Info from Roger about his original: The Roger Mayer Spitfire is the latest fuzz guitar effect in the Rocket Series and has been deliberately designed to produce the classic triode tube type distortion that is particularly rich in harmonics that are very musical and pleasing to the ears. This basically means that chords can be … Read more
Info from Roger Mayer about the original 1985 version which this is based on: The MONGOOSE FUZZ was developed in 1985 for guitarists who demand a guitar effect with lots of fat fuzz and enough bottom end to keep a metalhead happy. The MONGOOSE FUZZ also sounds as if it has a pre-set type wah … Read more
Request. Info about the circuit from ROG: Another application of the Bazz Fuss design is the Buzz Box, also designed by Christian. The circuit is simply two BF in series, but the second BF stage uses a germanium diode rather than the usual silicon. The circuit produces a nasty (in a good way), explosive octave-up … Read more
Hmmm this looks familiar to another layout I’ve done recently … Note that at least one of the transistors is going to be very difficult to obtain now, and/or will be expensive. The pinouts shown in this layout are based on using more modern transistors as replacements such as the 2N3904 or 2N5088. Check the … Read more
Info about the original: Like the Dyna-Ranger, the Joyride is a highly-adjustable, 3 discreet transistor, warm, organic, and very amp-like sounding overdrive pedal that offers everything from a subtle bump-up with hair, to punishing, highly-boosted over-the-top overdrive. With Volume, Treble, Bass and “Drive” controls, it is very flexible. Note: There was an unnecessary 22u cap … Read more
Info from David Main about his original: We begin with a re-cap. The FR-69, our take on the early bird Mosrite Fuzzrite. The germanium powered glass shattering freak show. As stated on the page for said pedal my only real interest there was because of the awesomeness of Ron Asheton and the Stooges. In other … Read more
As the schematic recommended trying different values for the 22K resistor, I’ve included a 22K trimmer instead so you can experiment for yourself but you might want to use a 50K so you can tweak with higher values too. If you aren’t bothered just solder a 22K resistor between pins 4 and 6 instead. Info … Read more
Jeremy just mentioned it and as I had the template to hand and it would only take 2 minutes I thought I’d include this one. I’ve got another schematic which is identical other than the 430p caps which are shown as 500p, but you’re always best experimenting with those anyway on a case by case … Read more
